Aside from the numerous free services, the Budapest Card offers discounts into the best restaurants in the city. Unique programs, river cruises and unfor-gettable shows are also available with a discount using the Budapest Card.

Services that card holders can enjoy FREE OF CHARGE in 2016

• unlimited use of the capital’s public transport system during the term of validity (buses, undergrounds, trams, trolleybuses, cogwheel trains, BKK boats, and HÉV trains within the administrative boundaries of the city) +200E bus from the Liszt Ferenc International Airport to Kőbánya-Kispest, underground station.
• one free entry to the permanent exhibitions of the following 12 museums in Budapest: Budapest History Museum; Aquincum Museum; Kiscelli Museum; Vasarely Museum; Hungarian National Gallery; Hungarian National Museum and more
• one free entry to Szent Lukács Baths and Swimming Pool

In addition to the above free services, more than 100 further services can be used with a discount of 10-50% off the bills or entrance tickets (baths, sights, churches, museums, restaurants, sightseeing tours, boat trips, etc.), example:

Card validity

The actual cards can be used until 31st March 2017. and the new cards will bee valid from 01 April 2017.

• The card is valid from the date and hour when it is signed.
• The Budapest Card is valid for one person.
• The validity period of cards which will be sold and validated for use until 31 March 2017, 11 p.m. might last until April 2017, for 24, 48 or 72 hours, depending on the validity period of the relevant card. The validity of the card is indicated on the completed date field on the back of the card, and by way of the NFC chip in the card, which is activated when the card is first used, and shall be active for 24, 48 or 72 hours from that time.
• The services and reduced prices can only be enjoyed by the holder. Each card offers the same services, they only differ in their terms of validity.
• Purchased but unused cards cannot be exchanged or refunded

How to Use the Budapest Card?

Purchase your Budapest Card in Budapest at the airport or at one of the downtown Budapestinfo Point kiosks or at Travel agencies.

• Prior to your first use, please complete the fields on the back of the card and sign your Budapest Card in order to validate it. Pease enter the date when you would like to start using your card in the box on the back of the card. According to the Hungarian date order, enter the month in the first box, the day in the second box, and the hour (last complete hour; 24-hour clock) in the third box (e. g. 27 June 14:15: 06 27 14).

Please make sure that all data is correct; a card with crossed out, corrected or illegible data is not valid and can no longer be used. This Budapest Card is a registered card for one person and it is not transferable to another person.. With a valid Budapest Card you can travel for unlimited rides on all public transportation lines of the BKV Zrt., including trams, trolleybuses, metro lines, the Millennium Underground Railway, the cogwheel railway, buses, city boats, the HÉV suburban railway line within the administrative boundary of Budapest, and on Bus 200E to the airport terminals. Please show your Budapest Card to the driver when entering the vehicle, or to the controller when requested. The Budapest Card is not valid for the Buda Castle Funicular and the Zugliget Chairlift. No prior registration is required for the free sightseeing walks; these tours leave under all circumstances at the announced times.

Discounts offered by this card are available only at points of acceptance and for services indicated in the leaflet. Simply show the card when you are entering a museum, visiting a restaurant, going on a walking tour or boarding public transportation and you will be given the necessary tickets or information that you need Purchased but unused cards cannot be exchanged or refunded

Is Budapest Card Worth Buying?

“Single ticket for transportation costs 350 HUF. Transfer ticket is 530 HUF. 24h ticket is 1,650 HUF (5 EUR) and the 72h ticket is 4,150 HUF (13 EUR). Two mentioned tours cost 10 EUR each. So in case you wanna buy a daily transportation ticket and do a walking tour that’s already 15 EUR which is a price of the 24h Budapest Card. If you wanna visit one of the museums eg. Hungarian National Museum (entrance is 5 EUR) and Lukács Baths (entrance 10 EUR) you already made some savings. However, these cards don’t always bring value.
